Save Greenbank , The ULDA are coming.

It's probably been noticable that I don't get around locally much these days, since moving house, I have had so much to do it's been impossible to cover the area like I used to.

Ok, so I recieved this from a mate, not the organisers but it seems like the satrt of the rot we all expected when Our last Mayor and the littlest councillor went and handed our area over for consideration to the then Offic of Urban Management OUM back in 04/05 when the Mount Lindesay North Beaudesert Study Area became the hot topic and it was with a prelude to massive development of high density and enterprise and with hindsight the Amalgamations.

Two things, the little one now claims not to have participated as Chair of Planning and development in the handing over of information that allowed focus of development to be on areas like North Maclean, and further claims that her dumping, unceremoniuosly from that chair was because of her oposition to it. The facts of course do not lie.

OK, so I recieved an Email wich invites distribution so I imagine it's ok to publish the details of it here;

To: admin@savegreenbank.com.au

Hello everyone, thank you for your patience. We have been FLAT OUT this end are heavily under resourced at the moment.

If ANYONE is able to assist us tomorrow to help us prepare it would be greatly appreciated. I really need a strong administrator in the office with me who is good with computers, printers, etc... We have a heap of info to prepare, print and collate for you all.

We want to EMPOWER YOU ALL to assist with this cause because we are a UNITED community and it is the ONLY way we have a chance of having a win.

Here are the MEETING details:

WHEN:

Every WED in February

TIME:

7PM

WHERE:

GREENBANK COMMUNITY CENTER

145 Teviot Road

GREENBANK.

On Wednesday we’ll only have 19 days left to have our submission lodged. They have had years to plan it, we have 19 days left to fight it. Good job we’re all made of the right stuff hey!!!!

This can’t be won by a few working extremely hard and a lot saying they’ll support it. THIS NEEDS ACTION, ACTION, ACTION taken by EVERYONE of US.

I’ve also attached some promo fliers so you can get the word out to your neighbours.

Print them out then:

· STICK THEM ON THE SIDE OF YOUR CAR WINDOWS

· Put them on your fences,

· Put them on EVERY post in the street.

· Put them in every shop

· Put them in all the schools,

· Do flier drops at Woolies

· Stick them in public toilets

· Use your imagination

TAKE MASSIVE ACTION to get EVERYBODY to this IMPORTANT MEETING.

HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE:

Our Greenbank is an ABSOLUTELY beautiful part of the world. Let’s give this a MASSIVE push at the start to get the word out, BUT once the submission period is over, let’s all dig in and make our neighbourhood beautiful again by picking up ANY and ALL left over fliers or promo materials. IF we do lose, our cherished lifestyle may have a limited time to run so let’s enjoy it as long as possible.

BUT WHEN WE WIN, let’s get in and pick it all up as a UNITED community again to get the neighbourhood ship shape again.

PLEASE PEOPLE, NO damage to Teviot Downs Estate Pty Ltd property and leave Gary and his vehicles alone. Please let’s be pro-active, without being offensive.

Here is the proposed format for the meetings:

1st Meeting on Wed 9th is to get as MANY people to this meeting as possible. CAN EVERYONE PLEASE CALL every radio station, TV reporter, ACA, Today Tonight, EVERY newspaper, EVERY politician, EVERY conservationist they know in the area to get them too this meeting.

Jimboomba Times has kindly accepted our invitation and will come. If we get ENOUGH people here at this first meeting, we MIGHT BE ABLE TO MAKE THE FRONT PAGE OF THE JIMBOOMBA TIMES the next week. Let’s make this our FIRST goal.

Ian RICKUSS is our State Member for Lockyer. He has accepted our invitation and has committed to being here on this first meeting, then is trying to adjust his commitments to ALSO attend the following Wednesday as well.

Hajnal Ban/Black is meeting with us this week and we have her passionate support. I’m hoping she’ll be a real GUN for our area.

We NEED YOUR SUPPORT TO GET EVERY POLITICIAN HERE.

We’ll be inviting Pam Parker on Tuesday 8th to attend.

I am attending a meeting at 5pm Tuesday at Council where the ULDA are presenting to the Flagstone Community Stakeholder Group. I’d like to meet them face to face so we can invite them to our meetings. They are wanting SOLUTIONS for the area, THIS IS OUR OPPORTUNITY to work WITH them to get reasonable outcomes that work for EVERYBODY, not just the developers and govt parties.

A SIGNIFICANT FOCUS of this first meeting is to get passionate and capable volunteers to form project groups to break the job down a bit. We ALL need to give our ABSOLUTE BEST EFFORT for the couple of weeks we have. No period in our life is more important than NOW.

We really need to identify and select some team leaders who can co-ordinate the following (ideally we’ll get GROUPS that form to “smash it out of the park” with their chosen task force:

· A core Stategy group (we have a core steering committee that is AWESOME at the moment and we simply couldn’t be getting this info out without some tireless work of a few great locals)

· Legal readers to scour over the Acts, codes, guiding documents, relevant legislation

· Legal “heads” to help us consider the compliance side of raising money to fund it, how we protect ourselves, writing of submissions and proposals etc...

· Any Town Planners who can assist with “global concept” SOLUTION PROPOSALS for ULDA

· Someone with strong admin skills to organise mail outs etc...

· Political Action Group to email, write to, contact ALL of the politicians locally, State and Federally and invite, invite, invite

· Media Tarts to get the articles out to newspapers, TV, radio (maybe one group for TV, one for print)

· We need savvy advertising article writers

· A website manager for www.SaveGreenbank.com.au (I’ll be watching over you....<;o) ) only joking

· A Facebook and Twitter Campaign manager

· A Public Picketting Group

· People to hand out fliers at the fetes etc...

· Wobble Board holders

· Artists for sign making

· Sausage Sizzle group to try to get some fund raising going. This campaign is costing a bit of cash obviously

· Signage group to get the signs out into the greater community

· PETITION groups to hit the shopping centres around the WHOLE area

The list goes on, we want to engage these people this first week. Would YOU be good at ANY of the above and like to have a crack at it on behalf of every one.

2nd Meeting on Wed 16th will hopefully be a MONSTER meeting and we’ll have even MORE media and politicians. This should be a great petition drive(We’l do that at every meeting anyway)

3rd Meeting on 23rd will be left open so we can tend to ANYTHING that hasn’t been addressed as we present out submissions.

WE NEED EVERYBODY’S HELP. WE NEED TO GET EVERY SINGLE RESIDENT TO THESE MEETINGS.

The great saying is “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight that matters, it’s the size of the fight in the dog”.

Woof, Woof GREENBANK, Looks like we got ourselves a dog fight. PLEASE don’t hurt TEVVY the Teviot Downs mascot. We all loved him before this offensive proposal. We can still love him. It ain’t his fault he’s made of tin. <;o)

See you all at the meeting.

I guess the intentions were good but unfortunately they lost me when they would not share their submission draft with the community. What the?
Then of course there was the usual campaigning by the two Blacks - come on!
Is this another NBSAG? By the way what happened to all the great visions they had and where are they now?
Seems that groups touched by this cr always end up in the tip when she's done with them.
Sorry guys but you'll not win community support with the Blacks involved.

Anonymous said...

It seems to me the tactic is to keep the community distracted in a worthless fight on emotional issues while the developer is not held to account for bringing in the ULDA, and has anyone given an explanation of any personal relationships between those developers and anyone who is purportedly "leading" the community?

Anonymous said...

Personally, I have nothing against the developer but he has already donated large sums to the Greenbank School towards their 'hall' and the Soccer club - maybe other groups as well. [Regarding the school - given that the Federal Gov funded the hall, what has happened to the $5,000 given by the Teviot Downs developer?]
All donations were made on the recommendation of the local cr. One has to ask if this is not just another way of buying votes for both individuals?

Anonymous said...

Do the Blacks have shares in this development as well?

A word of advise to all, keep

dont let the scatterbrain

you following up with the

the least of your probs
if you dont want to see
Greenbank industrialised,
ghettoised and torn to

is a menace to society.

These people have left their run too late, but maybe that was deliberate, huh.

I mean if there's no way of stopping it anyway, and lets face it its been planned since 2004, you have to ask why wasn't the councillor telling people about it then?

Anonymous said...

Why didn't the cr keep the community informed about the Pub Lane development? Oh, that's right there are shares involved so why rock the boat?
Why have we not heard about the progess of the Pub adjacent to the Kindy?
Our interests are not on the cr's list of priorities.
Unfortunately the antics of the Blacks do impact on decisions made in council especially when we are misrepresented. We do not want industrial, ghettos or blatant destruction of the environment so where is our representation in council? What gets said in the community is not always what is said in council.
More people need to attend the meetings to hear and see exactly what goes on - oh I forget, we can't get into the 'closed' meetings.

I am alway cautious of anyone who offers to sell their property to the Developer and when their is no answer, all odf a sudden this person (Mike Kelly) is now the Defender of Greenbank. What if the Developer makes good on Mr Kelly'S request, will he then stay and fight or just run with the cash. I am not convince to join in a fight that has left its run so late and has this man and the Blacks as the as the leaders.Too much showmanship for me!!

Unowho said...

Look, when something like this DA comes to you and you are contemplating the future, it is reasonable that one would explore an exit strategy as well as avenues to maintain your existing asset base. It's tough to condemn someone for asking the developer to consider compensating them by allowing them an exit option. However when you see someone gushing and praising someone the way they did at that meeting you have to ask is that more than just thanks for doing your job and representing me? I personally believe it is, we've seen this behaviour from past supporters and we have seen it end in tears for everyone else.

I might add that people who do not "go along" with some peoples leadership, can be considered"enemies" and often come in for vilification, harassment and even sledging in the most vile way.

Anonymous said...

Who is this Mike Kelly? So many Greenbank residents haven't a clue.

Anonymous said...

In response to the comment about
'I might add that people who do not "go along" with some peoples leadership, can be considered "enemies" and often come in for vilification, harassment and even sledging in the most vile way.'
That is one of the reasons so many people do not participate. Generally those in attendance are supporters or newcomers. The rest of us don't want to face the backlash - life is difficult enough without hell's hounds after us.
But I hope those who want to retain our lifestyle will submit submissions independently - there is nothing to prevent anyone from doing that.

Anonymous said...

Good point, Anon, However there is an inherent danger in following a form letter and that is that when they are recieved, they are bunched together and considered as the one submission. (Anyone in council would know that, and should advise that submissions be in your own hand) Of course it seems that's the reason why one is being offered. I fear by the way things are being organised that there will be no victory for the poor community,

The SaveGreenbank core group are residents who are directly affected by the development particularly the initial 151 lots. There is no alternate agenda! 4 the core group are new to Greenbank and Teviot. They were aware of the proposal for 2000sqm blocks similar to stages now on sale. DO YOU WANT 320sqm blocks ,multidewellings and potentially public housing in your backyard. The fight is with the Developer for their blatant disregard for the product they have sold and now wish to destroy whilst cutting up the last slice of land making a "motsa" and running for the hills and leaving us with reduced lifestyle, no infrastructure,no environment and a poorer community as a whole. The group are not antideveloper, antidevelopment, build your 276 x 2000sqm and the community will be happy!!!!!!!!!!! Get involved Help yourselfs, help us save the community that some are starting and continuing have learnt to enjoy! Save Your Greenbank, Save your reual residential lifestyle! APATHY is what those who allow these developments to slide through!

Anonymous said...

To the SaveGreenbank group, I commend you on your efforts but for those of us who have lived in the area 20 plus years there is a problem with some of the participants.
History seems to repeat itself and unfortunately some names keep coming up over and over.
For People Power to be effective it has to be unfettered by political point scoring and already there has been too much of that. The question that should be asked is not what certain individuals has 'done' in the past but what they are capable of doing in the present.
This high density development, regardless of whether its multi-dwellings or public housing or as once rumoured a Sudanese village, will impact on the whole of Greenbank and surrounding areas. The two new Estates at Spring Mountain and New Beith have already impacted with a huge increase in traffic and population and definitely no increase in infrastructure.
We are sick of Council passing the buck and blaming the State Gov and developers - they are all to blame. Be aware that Logan does not care for acreage living and they have publicly stated that they approve of high density development. Perhaps they want more Woodridges throughout Logan. After all the more subdivision the more rates and water charges can be raked in.

I think those who do fight, will end up either moving out further or complaining for ever. Have a go what have you got to lose, it's the aussie life style we are protecting and our rights.

Good on Mike Kelly cause he leads a strong community, and was quick to step up to the fight.
Didn't see any body take charge....

To Save Greenbank website comment,

it was 20 years ago that we were all protesting and trying to fight against high density development in the Beaudesert shire, and that's the development you are now trying to protect from even further cutting up. In the old Beaudesert Shire plan before the invention of the OUM or even the thought of the ULDA lots of less than 40 acres were not to be cut up, that was to preserve the rural amenity of the shire and it wasn't until they started building half acre lots with trickle feed water and building suburban homes on half acre lots (there are plenty of much bigger lots than that in Marsden by the way) that we began to look attractive to Logan who did and still do think of rural acreage owners as a burden on the budget rather than as a lifestyle alternative. The half acre lots are suburban they are certainly not rural, you are already high density, you really cannot go much smaller and still have effective HSTP's or the old trenches and septic. I'm not against the fight though.

Those who have been successful in this kind of fight, have used the services of someone who has very good knowledge of the local government act, the regional plan and the local area plan, i would suggest a councillor would not be this person, but maybe a lawyer in the field of local government regulation and action might be.

If you are serious with this fight, you might want to contact, raise funds and pay for a real unequivical submission that cannot be put aside or ignored and one that is registered and has to be replied to in council. That is the only thing that has worked 100% in the past and from experience over 20 years later, still is working.

Anonymous said...

From attending the first meeting, it certainly looked as if Mike Kelly was gushing like a schoolgirl when introducing Hagnel, not sure if he has a wife but if my husband behaved that way i'd be worried.

Anonymous said...

The first Party that would sack the ULDA would get my vote, wonder what that mclindon bloke is doing now?

Anonymous said...

I know Mike Kelly and he dose not work for DPI, EPA or LCC. He is a community member who is very disappointed that the ULDA and Developer think it's ok to put small blocks in a rural area.We all need to stand up and fight for what we moved out here for. Have a look at the savegreenbank.com.au web site and see that this is just the first high density area, there are going to be a lot more. That's why we all need to come together as a community and stop this now, it's not to late. I love this area and I'm going to help fight for what I moved out here for.

Anonymous said...

Get rid of the political media tarts and follow the advice of Anon 12:42 pm -
"If you are serious with this fight, you might want to contact, raise funds and pay for a real unequivical submission that cannot be put aside or ignored and one that is registered and has to be replied to in council." I would add that copies of the submissions go directly to the Premier and the ULDA as well.
That way if one submission happens to go 'astray' there are 2 more that cannot disappear as well.
Those who have lived in Teviot Downs for years know all about the drainage problems - have they been resolved yet? And will this new development create even more? How will this affect the flooding which is getting worse with each new building and each new mound.
What community services are in place - not wheelie bins and sad little parks - to cope with another influx of people? NONE.
What exits do we have in case evacuations are needed for fire or flood? The roads we have now are inadequate and can't even cope with the overload of traffic now.
The State and Local Govs always put the cart before the horse.

Just spoke to a very distressed parent who was bailed up when picking up a child from school today. The person wanted a petition signed for the SaveGreenbank Group.
When this parent, anxious to get the child home, said no, the parent got a mouthful from the person holding the petition.
Guys this is not the way to gain community support! If you haven't got the support yet from all the publicity and word of mouth you can't play the heavy. This incident could be seen as verbal assualt.

I'm sure anybody who bought a block of paradise would consider selling if paradise was lost. Some people want to live in the heart of a busy city and others in the heart of tranquility. Both are right for the right time in life. And yes I would sell because with masses of people around, my piece of peace would no longer be there. Good on you Mike for looking out for even those that are be bothered or are ignorant of the plight. What all communities need is a Mike Kelly.

Anonymous said...

I cant understand what the people of pub lane or whatever are trying to acheive, are they just snobs that don't want rental houses or affordable homes or do they really think their places are worth that much more than anywhere else where they'd prefer to see higher density development. The Anonymous above is right, 20 years ago many of us on 20 acre blocks had to put up with the city folk like them carving up the land into stupid pointless half acre lots so everyone could complain about the real acreage owners kids riding motor bikes while we have to listen to them all mowing their lawns and blowing clippings for hours on end. save selfish greenbank, pfffft, build a bridge and get over yourselves.

Anonymous said...

Yep I have lived here long enough to remember a protest against development at Teviot Downs and Spring Mountain. We didn't get a chance to protest against New Beith, that was pushed through so fast we didn't have time to catch our breath.
Unfortunately you won't win this battle, both State and Local government are pro high density development - more money in the coffers for them. Also it gives the State Gov somewhere to house the homeless.
The Protest being arranged will get publicity but should have been held in front of the ULDA offices or even Parliament. The Developer's can close up shop for the afternoon and not be affected.
By the way if the developer offers to buy Mike's property will he walk away from this newly incorporated body?

True, all of that, and put so nicely, "get over yourselves"

Those who think this is just a campaign for a certain person are probably right.

I live in Teviot Downs and I have over an acre I think good on them if they want to have a go.

We are meant to live in a country that allows free speech, engagment with the community and the ability to say I dont like this.

The developer sold a lifestyle that so many brought into and now are going to walk away with even more money and leave us to deal with the trouble.

Its not about who will live here its about what will they do when they live here as there is nothing to do.

I choose this lifestyle knowing that there was nothing to do knowing I will have to drive my kids around if they wanted to go somewhere, knowing there is no ammenities and still I choose this.

What about the people who will move here and they dont have a choice regarding all this as they will be sold a property with lies that it is all coming not knowing that it wont ever come as it hasnt for the last ten years.

LCC and the ULDA can get lost as far as I am concerned how is it constitiutional to have something imposed on you without any right of appeal?????

The state is only meant to make laws for the peace, welfare and good government of the state how is this found in the ULDA for those who currently live here or those who will via the ULDA development.

Anonymous said...

Mike, you are the man.

Good on you for having a go, hope this stupid developement can be stopped.
Why don't the developers attend a meeting and face the music?????

Why don't TD people attend as well, to scared to show their faces.

Couldn't even open the sales office when the protest was on today, FACE THE MUSIC AND STOP LYING TO US.

Anonymous said...

Seems to me that the community have got behing this, the save greenbank group have done an outstanding job.

Why don't the developers come and talk to the community, or is the greed to much for them.

Why don't they face the music?

Why can't the ULDA show up, or any poiticians like anna or lucas?

Anonymous said...

how is it constitiutional to have something imposed on you without any right of appeal?????

Anon, when we lived here on our 40 /50 / 150 acre lots we didn't want you either, yet you came.

you filled our roads to overcapacity, clearfelled our views and built all your fences and tin sheds as well as your innapropriate urban houses.

We agree with you, we had no choice either, yet here you are, and we are truely very very sorry to which ever god we must have pissed off to have to put up with you all, but what difference will abother few make? They will just ne more of you.

If you people can't tell this is an election campaign for Ban at your expense, i do feel truely sorry for that as well, and if you don't believe have a look at how many attacks on Mickel there are from her since this started, and yet it was she who told the government where to put future high density development when she was at beaudesert, and guess what, you're in it.

Anonymous said...

The developer is still selling rare acreage living without telling people that high density will be here that is disgraceful lucky I told my friend even if they don't

Anonymous said...

One can only assume that "the Developer" has stopped funding the little ones forays into megalomania via elected office. You have to wonder how something so small could be so divisive, I guess with people like Mike Kelly empowering them it's possible. The community would be better to utilise the local action , environmental and community groups rather than a political point scoring ladder climber who will be the detriment of this campaign in all likelihood. Speaking from experience, I haven't seen the little one succeed with one of these yet.

Anonymous said...

We pay public servants, regardless of the arrogant titles they have bestoed upon themselves, to work for the community.
So far what have any of them done for the people? Everything they do is for themselves.
Not only in the high density development area but they are imposing compulsory laws on us eg Animal laws, 2 bins, parking laws etc.
Again - we are over governed and looking at the waste of money it is definitely Local Gov that should go. Take them back to being Municipalities, which for a start would knock out the 100,000's wages for little return.
If the cr for Div 11 was sincere in working for this area why is she constantly chasing a Federal or now a State position?
Get rid of the lot of them as they cost us too much money and they don't stand up for our rights - that way we could concentrate on fighting the State Gov directly.

Fed up with the sham said...

Why has the cr for Div 11 not informed the members of the SaveGreenbank group that she and BSC were aware of planning issues in Greenbank since 2004?
Why has she not told them that in 2006 both BSC and Logan were consulted about development in Greenbank?
Why has she not told them that this development was discussed in Logan Council in 2010?
Is she using this group like she has others to get what she wants - a State or Federal seat?
If you don't ask her these questions and demand the truth then you deserve what you get.

Anonymous said...

haha @ Fed up,

seems the save greenie people have been hit with the full beams and are stunned into believing that she's on their side.

I cant wait to see what happens when the ULDA tell this mob to put up AND shut up and that their councillor should have kept them in the loop with what was being planned there before the signs went up.

The truth is they won't loose any dough on their houses, and lets face it it's not the rural retreat they claim it is , its just woodridge with a bit more space around the homes and stuck up priks in them.

look up some histroy and see who it was who carted this development stuff up to the state government, it was the mayor and ban, so people she put you in this mess, she aint gonna get you out, ha ha

Anonymous said...

Greenbank residents have been conspicious by their non participation in any other anti innapropriate high density or industry development, yet they are screeming the roof down because they might have to endure what has been their destiny since 2004. Only their arrogance and deliberate ignorance or rather refusal to believe, that high density is going to be there sooner or later. As for their so called hero, lets see what the out come of all three current investigations against her show, QCAT, yes a case to answer, Public Trustee, yet to come, any day now, and then CMC,. . . watch this space.

Anonymous said...

who cares about the so called hero and what she does or doesnt do this is about your right to say this stinks and i think that is being said loud and clear with or without her

Anonymous said...

We're not just fighting the ULDA but the cr and Logan.
The cr could have done something about this years ago instead of suddenly stepping up now.She is just as much to blame for this mess, given that she and Don Peterson encouraged the other crs in BSC to vote for this.
She did/said nothing when it went to Logan, in fact she and the Mayor promoted high density development.
At no stage has this cr worked for the people unless there was something in it for her. What is it this time?
Remember she said "I know what I want and I will have it"

Anonymous said...

Once the high density development starts, even if it has to be modified to give Mike Kelly a bit more of a buffer, that will be the start of the rot and it will continue.

I can't help but look at the idiots who moved to what used to be a rural area into a carved up urban residence and then began demanding busses and trains and all the other services that go with urban living and who now are saying they don't want urban living to become able to generate the sort of population to which all the services they have demanded could be provided. Strange people, very strange.

Anonymous said...

Anon 12:58 - so right. Since the new estates, Teviot Downs,Spring Mountain and New Beith, have been developed there have demands for footpaths, lighting, shopping centres etc.
Most of these people moved from urban areas and yes they want all the conveniences of urban life without the disturbance.
Wake up people this was meant to be rural living not a duplication of the area you ran from.
In most cases you have created the problems for not only yourselves but for all of us.
When I first came out here we only had Tom's shops and we did our shopping in Park Ridge or Browns Plains - what a lovely place it was to live in. Now we have ant hills all around us creating havoc on our roads and where we live.
You wanted progress well you will get it all - there are no selective choices.

Anonymous said...

All of us who lived in the rural areas in the North of the Beaudesert shire knew it would only be a matter of time once we were taken by Labor and thrown to the sward of Logan that we would be soon enough bound for clearing and covering with brick and tile squats. we already have the dumped rubbish along the roadsides and the streets covered with licorice strips from the burnouts to show that we really are a part of Logan. It seems people have had to give up keeping their streets tidy because of the sheer volume of rubbish and mess. We have been conned by those with interest in development who run about telling us they are against it and meanwhile their actions show the opposite to be the truth. I'm like a few others and am stuck until either I have funds or my property has enough equity, the latter of which I don't think is ever going to happen once development in the major areas starts, there will be no demand for pre loved properties unless they are cheap. I have a thorough dislike for my councillor, almost a hatred actually, for the way we have been persecuted over market gardens and virtually labelled pariahs in our own community because of her deliberately divisive actions and of course her henchmen and their total misinformation campaigns and some outright lies. We will eventually get out of here, and it will be good riddance, but I'm putting in a submission asking for the high density to go ahead and for the area to be expanded to include my place, and so is everyone we know, bring on the High density, its our saviour, the sooner the better.

Anonymous said...

to Anon March 4, 2011 5:46 PM, put in your submission stating that you want it and I like everyone else that I know will laugh at you when you are caught in the traffic and bitching over it and I will also laugh when they dont approve your place and you are stuck here still bitching but unable to sell your place for the price you want as the development will bring down our median price good luck to you and your cranky ways!!!!!!!!!!! infact I hope you get out of here because its people like you a community doesnt need....

Anonymous said...

Many of us moved out here 20 - 30 years ago to escape the urban madness. We choice a rural lifestyle - not a money making one.
We have already endured new estates, increased population, increased traffic and considerable pollution.
Yet we hung in there to prevent high density development ruining our community but when even one's own council is working against rural lifestyles perhaps its time to thow in the towel and move on.
The shame of this whole issue is that it now seems to be setting community against community which is exactly what 'they' want. Divide and conquer.
There are a lot of things we didn't want in Greenbank but they were forced on us eg amalgamations. A large shopping centre because the Cr claimed she couldn't buy a bottle of milk in Greenbank.
For all the 'new' residents I would suggest you do your homework and research who exactly was involved in selling us out - not just the State Gov or the ULDA. The recommendations for high density development came from a source among us. Not that it really matters - the damage has been done.

While I can fully understand someone who has had a bad encounter with the councillor and council too perhaps looking at development as a way out of debt and out to a situation where they are being marginalised and victimised by the councillor, I really cannot understand the abhorrent hate attitude of the response of the supporter of either the incorporated action group (Save Greenbank) or the councillor. This is the kind of hating that is caustic and is part of the reason why some of the people in greenbank are so anti market gardens. The tripe and dribble and outright lies put out by Ban and in particular Hogan have caused community members to fear what has been there longer than they have, for instance roads named Harvest or Farm, were given those names because of the common land use there when the subdivision took place, only an idiot would move in there and expect those activities to stop because you don't like them. The hate campaign against market gardens needs to stop, we all need to eat and I bet those who are trying to get the small croppers outlawed in Logan now still are happy to eat. Haters like Ban et al, are trying their hardest to convince everyone that certain other individuals like market gardeners and to a certain extent anyone who opposes her views also, are some kind of reprobate to be outcast and feared and other even more sinister rumours too. If you people allow yourselves to be tainted by this hate, and proliferate it publicly like you have here, then you will lose support and really you don't have that much to lose if you want to turn the State government and the ULDA.

Enough already said...

Unfortunately there is a great big difference between urban dwellers and country people.
I believe a large number of urban dwellers have moved out here wanting all 'urban' frills but still the country life style. Can't happen.
I've heard them complain about the noisy native birds, or magpies pooing on their washing or kids riding on trail bikes on their own land. Yet we have to listen to their loud music, speeding cars and screaming at each other.
Some are so busy watching their neighbour is doing that they forget to be real neighbours. Dare I reveal that at least 75% of complaints to council are made by newcomers?
What happened to live and let live?
Those of us who wanted to live the rest of our lives in peace and harmony on acreage didn't want the new estates that have already been developed. We tolerated the destruction of the countryside but we cannot accept more destruction.
Although I agree with stopping the new development I cannot agree with those intent on interfering with our rural lifestyle - we have rights as well.
Bulldozing down acres of trees does far more damage to the environment - flora and fauna - than market gardens. One destroys and depletes while the other gives.

Have a go, what have you got to lose

The ULDA & Teviot Downs estate have stuffed the area, this will ruin the area....

Anonymous said...

Oh well, we now have Captain Greenbank to save the day.

Anonymous said...

No, after checking the old historical web sites , it seems the ULDA and the developer are doing just what the chair of P&D in the old BSC planned to occur here all those years ago, the chair of P&D was Ban, nee Black, and they gave this area as potential High density to the State Government who gazetted it into urban footprint, not rural living area way back then and that is what has put this into motion.
The worst thing this traitor lives amongst us and claims to be on our side whilst never telling the truth that this is her fault.
my family and i have voted for and been thoroughly decieved by her we ar now looking to move out just like mr Kelly, there is no alternative now that I know all this.

Anonymous said...

I guess if we all decide to leave it will be exactly what she and 'they' want. New residents would have no idea of what was done so many years ago and in trying to expose the truth we can be seen as 'vexatious'
Having seen and heard many things since 2004 and also being deceived, I can no longer find any good in this person.
I actually feel sorry for the passionate 'fans', when your 'use by date' is reached you will learn the truth until then just keep your blindfolds on securely.

I haven't seen a declaration of the win from Save Greenbank yet, hasn't the ULDA decided to re think this , At least that's what I'v heard.

Mike Kelly is a loser I am sick of seeing his face in all the papers if save greenbank want to go any where get rid of him he gushed all over the ULDA when they came maybe he is hoping they will pay him out after all

Anonymous said...

I still reckon Mike Kelly works in a government department, and if not then his family do. You're right watching him gushing like a schoolgirl over Ban was bad enough but his performance with Paul eagles was outright sycophancy

Anonymous said...

I must concur Mr Kelly is somewhat of a showman. He lurches to the Left and Lurches to the Right is he realy her to fight the fight! Is their an alternate agenda? When will we know many ggo people want to Know? Will he stay the fight or take the us all for a ride

The last 3 comments are written by idiots....
What have you contributed to this so far, and where do you stand.

Tuff calls from behind a PC, your desktop comments mean nothing???

Unowho said...

I'm really astounded at the comments here, ok.
I don't usually moderate them, I let them go as a rule but apart from the ignorance and rudeness, the last comment is right, what has it or many of the previous ones contributed to this discussion?

When I posted this topic it was to highlight one of the worse cases of neglect by a councillor I've ever seen, the people of Save Greenbank claim they never heard of this before they saw the MCU signs go up around the block in Question and to me that seems to mean thier councillor has not informed of what is going on on their doorstep and yet seems also to be trying to champion the cause with direct attacks against the member for Logan who has no jurisdiction over the area.

While I believe this is a politically motivated bent for the councillor, I and I think most people do not wish to see more of the high density future ghetto's pouring outward from Logan in an attempt to cover as much ground as possible with urban high density rather than leaving the more amenity freindly 5/10/20 acre blocks as they are.

I personally never wanted to see the density that even exists at greenbank now, that's too high in my opinion, but it's there and we cannot change that, but lets try to cull it at that, surely a developer can make enough profit without going too small, and 240 m2 is way too small.

Please, no more comments that don't contribute to the discussion.

The trouble with some campaigns is that they forget who the enemy is, and I personally think this one has selected its allies very poorly in some cases but very cleverly has also allowed the local community action groups and environmental groups to do the bulk of the work so that their submission will actually have some meat on it's snob and elitest bones.

Good work to those groups, I hope you don't get burned.

I tend to disagree One needs to Keep their eye on Mike Kelly as he has a hidden agenda in all of this. I am against the development and do not want this to happen within this area However I have to ask what is Mike Kelly raising Money for? Why is he misleading the community regarding the money he is raising without advising the purpose of it he may have started out with good intentions but he may also get greedy and take money given to him to do what with it? Dont take the eye off the game and at this stage the game is with Mike Kelly he is holding the cards and making decisions him and his little crew of no ones all people I have never met before Like I said he may have started with great vision and intentions though now I beleive the game has changed the submission is in and there is no outcome yet so why is he raising money that is all I am saying look into why he wants money in the first place and why he still wants it now these are important questions to ask of a person who is representing the community is it not

It appears that certain anonymous bloggers have little or no insight into the work undertaken by Mike Kelly on behalf of the community he lives in. Mr. Kelly has waged a campaign based on strong strategic grounds and taken advice from a number of people who are well versed in dealing at the top end of the political spectrum. Mr. Kelly has no hidden agenda and any request that he and his group has made for financial input from the community to aid in the expense of saving its lifestyle is purely to assist with the personal expenditure he has made on behalf of his fellow residents, because he believes passionately in this cause. The save greenbank group has also been open and transparent in their literature as to how the accountabilty of the incorporated body would be conducted.
I can also categorically state that Mr Kelly is not an employee or contractor to any government department and has no other agenda other than is stated in the Save Greenbank literature.
It is a pity to see that the 'tall poppy' syndrome is alive and well even in Greenbank - and those brave bloggers who seek to vilify this man should have regard for his family and hang your heads in shame.
Grow up people - and until you know the truth of the matter you would be best not to comment.
I am honoured to know Mr Kelly, his wife and several members of the Save Greenbank committee and to have witnessed first hand the time and effort that they have put into this campaign at the expense of their own family life, with no desire for recognition.

Good to see a result, even though probably a temporary one. When will planners and Governments begin to put value in our environment, enough value to give us all, and the future people who will live here, real buffers and real consideration during the planning stages.

Personally, I think people are within their right to question the motives of some associated with the campaign, particularly those who have had long relationships with government and the developers.

Congratulations to those who did the lions share of the work and those who will be in the background while others no doubt take the credit for this result.

Thanks to Anne from Laca, to Deiter from Veto and Larc and to Ted Fensome who works for the better of environmental and planning and takes on so much, thanks to all those who made submissions, and other groups who did also, thank you all.

I wonder if now it is all over for the time being, will we see the great submission that could not be shared among the contributors for some reason?

Re UNOWHO and the Great Submission - This has been available on the Savegreenbank website since the day it was presented to the ULDA I am not part of the group but a member of the Community and I saw it and read it and I am thankful that those people of Savegreenbank put the effort in that they did.....

Thank you to the person/s who recognise that Ban & Her Sidekick, Black are turning this into a political campaign. Ms Ban-Black Should be black banned. She is a lawyer by trade, and should be using those skills to fight the developer on the grounds of misleading conduct.

Vote for whoever you like at a State or Federal Level, it won't make a difference. But your councilor is the one who is best placed to influence zoning.

However if they don't attend the meetings, OR if they desire a higher office, OR if they are sidetracked by the quest for personal wealth, and subsequently have to appear at proceedings that question the legality of this quest, then they may not be as attentive to all things local.. Until it's too late.

Is it true these plans have been on the Table since 2004???

You'll notice the original post was written in Feburary, and it was not being shared then, your objectivity is certainly in question here, despite your claims, otherwise you'd realise that it's of no help to other objectors to see the "great Submission" after it's all over is it. DOH. Thanks for nothing.
